Among all the demons that walk the depths, among the evil the lurks in the darkest valleys of the human soul, in the deepest shadows that are cast by the brightest Light above, there He lies.

He has waited for over 1000 years. For His moment. For His opportunity. An ally, once sealed, has now awakened. Now it is His time to rise. To restore the Old Way.

To the masters, He is grand! To the evil, He is the apex! To the cruel, He is the pinnacle! To the depraved, He is the peak!

To the vile, HE IS



THE ARCHVILE

He comes! A swift burning vengeance! Darkness falls on Hell, Earth and Heaven! He shan't be denied! He can't be stopped!

A focused fury, companion to a destructive rage! In Their hands all of Fate shall be returned! The Old Way comes! The Invaders shall be repelled! The Sinful will repent!

Gameplay Changes

He is fast, faster than any other! He is durable, reinforced by magic and darkness! He wields no weapon, but His mastery of magic is unmatched! All his ilk are wellsprings of Mana, never running dry! His consumption of human souls fuels His unnatural life!

The dark arts He wields have been honed to a set of masterful techniques!
  • Main Fire: Focus - Spells with great Mana cost but great power. Long casting times and locks onto a single target. Fails if there is no target without expending Mana.
  • Alt Fire: Projectile - Fires a projectile spell with lower cost and greater casting speed.
  • Reload: Shield - Defensive spells.
  • Zoom: Utlity - Other spells.
His power is unmatched, His knowledge is all encompassing! There is nearly nothing for Him to learn! His Mastery can only grow!

Here comes flame boi, its the latest (maybe not greatest) in the Hearts of Demons series! As usual, this is an alpha build, but its more complete than most of my other alpha ventures have been! While it does have some issues, and some missing content, its very much a complete experience, so go out and have fun with it! As always keep me posted with any questions, concerns, comments, hatemail, etc.

NICE. One thing I can have feedback for immediately is that I think the various magic masteries could use some sort of cap on what level they can reach. Not that it's likely to happen a lot, but on EDay for instance, you make it to the armory in map 05 and there are a bunch of gems and the magics can get way strong when you have 15+ levels in some.

Maximum amount of corpses revived going up with Soul level would be cool, too.

And for Arcane's primary at least, it'd be nice if the spell circles could follow where you're looking instead of staying directly in front.

That's about all for now. The Boi is fun.


EDIT: Oh, I forgot something. Since you pretty much want the arcane shield on all the time and the mana orb gets an effect on it indicating that it's active, you don't really lose much by disabling the blue vision tint.

A small update, mostly balance changes, but like you might have seen on HOD - ARACHNOTRON, this mod will also be going on indefinite hiatus.

  * Spellbook display added to HUD
  * Soulspheres no longer raise Magic Level
  * Amulet now raises Magic Level by 3
  * Amulet now decreases spell cost by 25%. Stacks with cloak.
  * Amulet no longer increases Mana capacity 
* Fire
  * Focus spell cost decreased
  * Focus spell damage decreased
  * Fireball cost decreased
  * Fireball direct hit damage decreased 
* Ice
  * Ice Wave casting speed increased  
* Arcane
  * Arcane Missiles now have slight homing
  * Magic Missile size decreased slightly
  * Mage Armor duration decreased
