Payback enemies is a modern enemy replacer set in a gritty urban setting where organized crime
and gangs' rule and regular folks live in fear. It's designed to work in conjunction with my payback
weapons mods but should be compatible with pretty much anything that's not a monster replacer.
PLOT
Spoiler:
it's a week into the future and things are going downhill fast, not long ago everyone was happy and
dancing in the street but that all changed when he turned up. A flashy tycoon with buckets of money
and no morals moved into town and started making moves. He rallied every crooked thug and scumbag
under his banner luring them with money, drugs and guns until they broke, anyone who didn't was broken
with good old fashion violence.
Old hatreds were forgotten as gangs, mobs and punks rallied together for the greater good (profit).
Boosting The Shadowy figure's already impressive army of foreign mercenaries and loyal guards.
The police are to scared to do anything and the government is looking the other way, so someone has
to do something, You??
SCREENSHOTS:
Spoiler:
THIS IS MORE OF TEASER GALLERY- try them out for yourself.
SOME NOTES:
-full enemy replacement roster
-insane amount of enemy and color variants
-burn deaths, weak deaths, mutiple deaths
-sounds are average (not my area) but good enough
-all tracers/projectiles no hitscan
-two versions, one with GROUND only enemies and one with more classic AIR enemies (souls and cacos)
-some enemies are resistant/immune to fire weapons
-some of the boss enemies have the ambush tag set (this can conflict with some maps that activate them far away) removed this for compatiblity X versions now without this

Full credits list included inside file in credits.txt should be up to date and
accurate, but if you think its not let me know and I will fix it asap.
I want to specially thank WildWeasel for letting me use his tracers in this again.
They are my favorite projectile tracers and I feel this would be lesser without them.
Final note, like all my projects if anyone wants to use any of my sprites from this for anything
else they are more then welcome to, no permission needed. but keep in mind most of them are built
on other peoples stuff and please credit them and if they ask you not to use it respect them.

Congrats on the release! I think it was wise that I wound up postponing my videos featuring Payback, as I thought Hell From Earth wasn't quite jiving with the characters in your mod. Will see what maps I can pair these two with soon!

Thanks. I'll be interested to see what you pick. I've been having a good time with the older Hellfire series of maps and vanilasky is great but a bit of a long slog. there has been some nicer modern/urban stuff being worked on lately aswell.

Perfect for main character mod!
Thank you. Nice to hear, hope people have fun getting some payback.
Always great to get some feedback so thanks again.
I think that Bruiser & Archvile replacements that are located in the monster rooms outside of the map doesn't getting alerted by noise, so it it impossible to get 100% kill on some maps...

I haven't noticed any trouble with this, but understand that it could be problematic. so removed the AMBUSH tag from the below versions. (Stuck them on as alterative downloads on OP as well)
-main reason they were set to ambush is to avoid them yelling their see sounds across the map, also because they don't have any ambient noises them getting the drop on you can be pretty bad.
I know that this may be hard to implement, but you might just made an option to disable their Ambush flags or enable it via mod's options menu, since it is gonna be a painful to update not 2 files, but all 4 of them...

very sensible idea , still not the best at coding so might be harder for me then it actually is,
will aim to get this implemented when I update it next.
Awesome another human only monster pack consider me
Downloading it. How many variants do you have? Looks like near 250 or higher than that. Also can both the ground and air version can be used at the same time?

DeeDee, do you have Discord?
Currently no, (This is pretty much the only place I have any online presence)
But I've been considering it for awhile, and now might be a good time

-Thanks, we need as many as we can get, I'm all for smashing hellspawn but its nice to have some humans for modern maps/weapon sets
-there's 72 different enemy types but with the color variants its up to 447
-it actually stuffs up and gets mad at some repeat coding, I plan to update this at some point with a option menu that lets you choose which ones you want (really need to work on my code skills) so there really only needs to be one version.
but for now, if you have Slade you can just copy and paste the 2 different SOUL and CACO spawns together. all the assets are the same in both files.
Not to familiar with slade I just how to change value numbers like enemies health, damage received or take etc. Im just curious and wanted to try the full roster both and ground and air. Do I need to just load the air version or both of them? I’m giving it a try either way. Bc I got good wads to play that’s perfect for them in a urban theme wad.
just run the AIR or GROUND version, it's the same file with four words changed
Actually just use this if you want everything included, doesn't need the other files https://www.dropbox.com/s/jeak6dxre22th ... x.zip?dl=0
it really comes down to if you want flying enemies or not, I'm not a big fan of them but some people are.
and some maps require them if you want 100% kills.
Great stuff. The enemy variety is good here. It’s alittle hard to hear them when you kill them but other than that they are pretty good. Hope to see future updates for more roster updates
This is really rad, and I do love playin with them with the Payback weapons pack or just switchin it up with different weapon mods. All around, just a really fun mod to test out with weapons and even map packs. Diabolus EX is a really good map if you wanna feel like you're John Mcclane scaling up a tower.
