[DECORATE] Custom weapon bobbing

Post by ace »

How about the ability to customize the bobbing of a HUD sprite weapon, as said in this thread? The original weapon bobbing is old, and it doesn't fit when you want to use a large heavy weapon such as a bazooka which you would want to just maybe bob up and down shortly, or small weapons, which you may not want to bob down but rather up, and a little to the right or left.

This would I think be best to include the speed, direction, and amount should it be added.

I have been wanting an alternative method of bobbing both the weapon sprite and the player's view for quite a while now.

Ah yes, that's something to have too. Although my only question is as to what we would use to change it -- ACS, DECORATE, what?

I'd actually prefer the view-bobbing to be the player's choice, in case people start complaining that "the new bobbing isn't Doom."

I'd say have 2 variables on a per weapon basis: One for vertical bobbing and one for horizontal bobbing (a la EDGE).

My thoughts would be:

-X/Y direction like above
-speed
-X/Y stopping point

I think that would make it the most customizable.
