I remember when VOGONS had a huge facelift and it took me literally forever (I still don't even like it regardless!) to get used to the ridiculous theme change, but the "ne-drdteam" more or less still resembles what the forum used to look like prior to upgrade.
Is the old theme incompatible with the site update? I kinda want that colour scheme back if it's not too much trouble.
Is the old default theme forever dead?

I'd like to get the old "dark" theme back as well. While the dark ProSilver theme is not bad, that old theme had nearly perfect color balance. ne-drdteam has too high contrast for my taste.

Yes - it is. Unfortunately that's just the silver bullet answer that no one wants to hear but it's the only one that is absolutely true.KynikossDragonn wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 12:03 am Is the old theme incompatible with the site update?
That being said, the new styles can be edited and changed. I will be seeing about doing some CSS injections for things like profile sides, and expanding the quick links for those who can't stand the new way of doing things. The majority of the style system in newer versions of phpBB are entirely CSS-based so it makes it a lot easier to do modding with them without altering the forum software itself, and people have already started coming up with working browser-side mods to make the site function (for them) similarly to as before.
But make no mistake - the new system is here to stay. The old phpBB was essentially the Windows XP of forum software - we loved it, but it was chunky and couldn't be upgraded and its age was starting to creep up to it. A couple weeks ago I made the decision that, one way or another, the bandaid must be ripped off, the potential damage be damned - we can pick up the pieces after, and it's a lot easier to see where we are when we're on the other side.
It's not all bad. The new software has a lot of really nice features, and you will get used to some of the new things it does.
The old beloved styles will have to be remade. But we can't simply "transfer them over" - it doesn't work like that. The differences with the style systems are too great - they would break.

The discussion mostly resides in this topic: viewtopic.php?t=76159 - so I am just gonna link that and close this.
