A container is basically an object/actor with an inventory that can be opened (with the Use key) and items taken by the player with a menu pop up, think Fallout's Ammo Boxes, or System Shock 2's crates.

Are you looking for graphics for these containers, or code to make them function? (Or both?)

There's a few things like this, they work by basically spawning items once you open them. IIRC you can find some chests that work this way in Jimmy's Faithless trilogy for Heretic.

Not sure if he wants chests that just spawn items when opened, which I can provide, or chest with actual inventory you can browse. Which I would like to have too, but I think there was HeXen mod with randomized dungeons that actually had chests with inventory.

I need something with an internal inventory to browse, preferably something in ZScript that allows for multiple types of chests/containers which would have their own lists of spawnable items (i.e Gun Trunks can only have guns, ammo boxes that can only have ammo, etc)

The whole "spawn items" on the ground doesn't appeal to me.

In terms of actual art assets, I can whip them up myself, there are plenty of textures out there I can utilize, and I can whip up my own models/textures if I have to.
