Will this pc run gzdoom?

So im getting a new pc soon and this is the best one i can afford, but i dont know if it will actually improve preformance with GZdoom mods or if it will even run GZdoom at all or LZdoom wich is the one i use now, my current pc is a toaster and i guess anything is better than what i have, but i want to know if there will be any improvement at all with the new pc, or if LZdoom/GZdoom will even run.

My current PC: Windows 7 64 bit, Celeron, intel hd graphics, CPU J1800, 2.0GHz, 2.00 GB RAM, 240 GB disc space.

The new PC: Windows 10 64 bit, AMD PRO A4-3350B Processor Radeon R4 Graphics, 2.4GHz, 8.00 GB RAM, 1 Terrabite of SATA III disc space.

That CPU is slow, can you afford a Ryzen instead?

Jebus you really have that kind of PC? You can probably find some dumpster PC with parts faster than what you have.

I would send you one of my older GPUs for FREE. AMD 6950 unlocked to 6970 with 2 GB VRAM.
You pay the shipping wherever you are and download your own drivers. Suggest you use older AMD 12.3 or 12.4 drivers for fastest performance. 14.x is slower.

I might have a spare CPU and RAM I may have around as well. But the motherboard blew up during a lightning storm along with the PSU. I cannot find a replacement motherboard where I am.

Well - it's better than the 7 year old MacBook I use for work - but that's really the only positive thing to say about it. For gaming it's a bit underpowered - even for Doom if you want to do a bit more than playing vanilla-complexity levels.

It will run GZDoom. "Will it run GZDoom well?" is the question you should really be asking, and the answer to that is the frustratingly common "It Depends." Vanilla-compat megawads with DRLA? Probably. Blade of Agony? Definitely not.

Also an HDD doesn't cut it anymore for Win10.

Your old PC is palpably slow - Good for LZDoom or old JDoom 1.8.6 (The Doomsday version that actually is rather stable) but not much more.

Your new PC is also palpably slow - Just less. A Carrizo-L based APU has Puma cores - the successors to AMD's Jaguar which are in current-gen consoles. Its an improvement, but not by much.

The bigger issue is in the graphics department - The Radeon R4 you have there only has 128 shader cores. Effectively we are looking at a netbook processor with a somewhat modern GPU in terms of featureset, but not in terms of pushing power.

LZDoom will work better here, but forget about any GZDoom heavy WADS - though the GPU supports the grunt of what GZ has to offer, it simply can't handle such loads. For a better experience, LZDoom would work better, or a non-ZDoom based port with an older GL renderer.

Mainly you need a faster CPU and a SSD.

Thanks a lot for your resplies! my current pc (the celeron) just holds me back way to much and i cant keep it any longer, i need to use programs like blender for example and even tho i can use those now, im too limited to what i can do with them right now, so i just needed to know if i would loose the ability to play doom mods on my new pc, due to compatibility issues and what not, and at the same time know if i would get better preformance, but the latter is not super necessary right now.

Don't buy that laptop unless you're really on a budget and plan to install Windows 8.1 or an older version of Windows 10 and disable updates. Check prices for Ryzen 3 laptops with 256 GB SSD drives.

Its not a laptop its a desktop, Ill try to find a ryzen that fits my budget, tho i was planing on installing windows 7 on it i still have the instalation disc from my old pc, wich still runs fine even tho they said viruses would eat it alive, i hate windows 10 anyways, but thanks a lot for the advice, i will look into that Rizen 3.

In the grand scheme of it, you'll be better off leaving whatever OS your machine already has on it. Downgrading will leave you open to exploits, and to be honest, the biggest changes on the user end are mostly in how you access some of the system settings. At this rate there's not really much reason not to use whatever's there when you get the machine.

If you really need to buy a good system, maybe a Ryzen 3300x or any of the 4xxx series APU, MB and RAM. Better in the long run and enough CPU power for GZdoom mostly. Vulkan drivers run really well on AMD platforms so you won't be constrained there.

Well malware bytes has kept my pc runing without any problems ever sience windows 7 got discontinued, dont know if it was that or just luck but, ill take your advice into consideration but, i had windows 10 on my last pc, an old hp intel core, it gave me a bunch of issues wen i upgraded from 7 to 10, that pc also died on me so i guess i feel like windows 10 is cursed now lol.

The present version of Windows 10 has gone through fair amount of development since it's 2015 release. Now it's better system than 7 ever was. I don't want to start any flamewar, but my experience with 10 so far is that W10 is good and solid system, good for long term use.
