Wolf 'en Doom Lite 2.0

Post by JoeyTD »

This mod is meant to be played on GZDoom 4.4.0 or newer

Wolf 'en Doom lite is a gameplay mod for doom and doom 2 that adds all the lovely mechanics and graphics of wolfenstien 3D with some stuff from other ports and some other wolf3D engine .... maybe a few cuts things from wolfenstien 3D early development.

Weapons:
Knife - good for stabbing.
Pistol - Lets you shoot at the baddies.
SMG - good fire rate but poor accuracy.
ChainGun - The original room clearer, just keep check on your ammo.
Rocket Launcher - Point, Click, and Boom.
Flamethrower - second best room clearer, watch out once your done firing you'll need to let it quickly cool down.
spear of destiny - the holy weapon.
Grenade - Throw it and forget it, good bouncing off corners.
Rifle - Good for taking out enemies at long range but watch out you need reload after every shot. you know bolt action.
MG42 - Time to paint the brown walls a new red.

Enemies:
Dog - Dogs breed for war, best to put them down before they put you down.
Brown Guard - common solider, goes down fast
SS - SMG carrying SOB, watch out for them they hit hard.
Officers- Fast little shits aren't they? About to make their white suit red and brown.
Mutant - Fuck who ever made them and fuck them too.
Fake Hilter - When did Hitler breath fire? .... oh fuck you.
Mutant Rat - Just as bad as human mutants thank god they ain't fast.
Spectre - No mortal weapon can kill them, word around the SS is this monster can only be killed by a holy weapon.
Mutant Bat - Now the mutants fly? can I get a break from this shit?

bosses - Just you wait.

Similar to Nailz the Ravager's Codename: Jaguar mod, but there are some glaring issues.
  • Why would you replace strafing for the strafing keys with turning? There are already turning keys in Doom, and I can't move properly.
  • SS and Officers keep looping their alert sounds, preventing them from ever attacking.
  • The machine gun dropped by SS gives way too much ammo.

I'm liking where this is going. Good luck!

Also, thanks for using my video in the thread.

Eeeeey nice to see this mod. It's very accurate and retrospective to the original counterparts... I mean literal plural stuff like Jag, MAC, DOS version of Wolf3D! However the blood splat is quite big and the enemies are again, too accurate sometimes.

Also feels sad to see that the bosses can be easily conquered if you have a flamethrower.

It actually tries to simulate wolf3d movement because i don't think there were strafe keys at the time.

The forcible-disabling of strafing is frankly inexplicable, and seems solely designed to piss everyone off and leave nobody happy. It's not even handled consistently - It only works "as intended" if you're not moving! Holding forward and one of the strafe keys will still run at an angle.

small update:
- undone the odd movement layout to the normal movement layout, strafing now acts like strafing. (I was testing out something out but it was bad idea)
- enemies no longer loop wake up and loop the wake up sound on seeing the player.
- SS now drops a SMG with clip worth of ammo.
- flamethrower projectile damage has nerfed from 16 to 8.
- knife dose only 7 damage.
- enemies should be less accurate now then they was before.

thanks for the feed back

I did use some parts from his mod and had a little help from him on this.

Spoiler:
- I made them have the same tic speed as doom's monsters to be on the safe side, I'll fix that up.

- Couldn't find a good HQ sound for it so I left soundless till I could find one.

- PC version is more of better version but once I get the PC refined I'll update the mac version with the PC codes.

- I'm sure I left a few things out on it, I'll patch that up after I fix the PC version.

- Flamethrower was a bit of pain in my ass for while so I left it but I'll patch up soon

- I liked doom's classic "UNF" sound so I kept it.
