This is not a suggestion that ZDoom open the correct WAD files at run time when loading a savegame. My suggestion is to scan the contents of the -FILE and -DEH/BEX commands and compare them to those used for the savegame. If they differ in any way, have ZDoom show an error message - "ZDoom has detected that the WADs you are loading are different from those loaded when the game was saved. The save was originally created with: <list wad and DEH files here>. Do you wish to continue loading anyway?"
The prompt is necessary in case somebody has loaded a sound patch and no longer wishes it to be used for the save, or if someone switches weapon mods during a game.
I bet this would require a reworking of the save format.
