Bittersweet by LilWhiteMouse

I received an E-mail from LilWhiteMouse yesterday. Unfortunately she won't be returning to the Zdoom scene any time soon and so the project she worked on most recently has been left in a state of almost-completedness and she doesn't feel that she will be in a position to put the finishing touches to it.

However, she asked if I thought there would be any interest in the project as it stands and if so, could I post it somewhere. Having had a chance to playtest it myself some time ago, and knowing the appreciative comments it received when LWM posted a few screenies in the bugs forum a few months back I think people will get a kick out of it.

It's classic LilWhiteMouse stuff. Crisp 3D models for hi-res sprites, an interesting and innovative setting/story, cunning use of scripting, original and quite hard gameplay. It all takes place in one level, but the level reconfigures itself and you play the map a number of times, with different enemies, walls, bosses etc a number of times before the game is complete. There is also an html page included in the archive, so you can get details of the various enemies if you want to read about them.

It isn't complete, but it is (very) playable right to the end. I know LilWhiteMouse wanted to add/modify a few more things but the only really obvious unfinished part is a texture or two that have the word "filler" on them.

The mod itself is "Adult" and "Fetish" in nature, so if that puts you off, don't download it. However, if you think that chaingun toting, bare-breasted fetish nuns might be your thing, clicky clicky

Sad news. :( Did she give any reasons? Is there any other game mod community she's involved with?

No, she didn't give any reason, so I didn't ask. But it is sad news.

It says it's in MAP01, but it didn't change away from the title screen.

I have just played the first 5 minutes of the mod.

And no, NO Hyperbole.

Lil White Mouse died like a dragon, left us, but owned asses of every project out there, upside down.

Now that was a slap in the face I'll wear with pride.

gah, cant believe shes leaving...

great map, as always, just hope she plans on coming back SOME day in the future

anyone have any idea where i can find some of lwm's other maps? i remember playing one ages ago however ended up giving up on it since zdoom continually froze my old computer

since then ive remade my entire computer, thus no longer have the level and i cant remember the maps name

all i can remember is that you played as some... cat... person thing, and you could jump high using a special ability, but at the start your leg is hurt so are unable to do so, pm me if you have any idea what map this is

I think you might be referring to "Lywren". A sort of fantasy mod with a village, a tower, a tall tree area, a connecting swampy sort of area, some cool enemies, tasks to complete? I really liked that one. It never actually got fully finished either (IIRC). I do have it somewhere, but due to a HD failure a few weeks ago, I'm not back up to speed with my stuff, and couldn't find it quickly.

She will be missed. Especially her 1337 scripting skills
