Description:
This mod adds new items that have a chance of spawning instead of the normal pickups, replacing health, armor and ammo.
Some new items give less health, armor or ammo while others give more.
Also, pickup messages are updated to show how much health, armor or ammo the item gave you.
It is compatible with all GZDoom versions as of Beta 1.4.2
It is also compatible with mods that use normal health, armor and ammo pickups, and weapon mods that use normal Doom ammo types.

I haven't updated this in a while and don't plan too anytime soon,
sorry to anyone who has been waiting for an update or compatibility patch.
I want to continue this project eventually when I have more time and motivation.
If you have any questions, I'll try to answer ASAP, but be aware that i'm not online often.
For now; don't expect any updates in the near future.

Version 1.0, and the legendoom patch are out!
There was a bug in V1.0, but it now is fixed, so you need to download the new one.

Compatibility patches are now being made by us and the Brutal Doom 20 patch is already out!

Have you considered backpack variants? I think there was a stuffed backpack sprite floating around somewhere.
Seems like somehow combining this with smart scavenger would pretty much make the ultimate vanilla pickups mod.
We have been trying to make a backpack variant, I already made the sprite, it is a stuffed backpack that will still double ammo holding capabilities but give more ammo.
I don't know if we can somehow combine it with smart scavenger, but we will keep it in mind.

I have been testing a bit with smart scavenger and the random pickups mod. If you load the pickups mod first and then smart scavenger, you get the smart scavenger large ammo pickups giving randomized small pickups.

Unless this mod does something different, I don't imagine it'll be directly compatible, because Final Doomer alters the ammo pickups.
This looks like a mod that would go great with Colorful Hell, considering the colored monsters are capable of dropping health potions and armor pieces.
Oh neat, it's like Wrath of Cronos' health pickups, except it's done with everything plus monster drops. I guarantee you will get much praise if you make compatibility patches for various MODs.

Final Doomer adds new ammo pool types. This is not visible with the regular HUD, but if you switch to (G)ZDoom's alternative HUD, you can see that the pickups fill the vanilla ammo pools and the weapons use ammo from one of the mod's ammo pools. If the vanilla pools are full, you can't pick up more ammo. In order to fix this, you need a compatibility patch.

We are going to work on a Guncaster compatibility addon for it soon, not sure how long it will take but it's coming!
And like the post said, as long as the mod you are using it with doesn't alter ammo, health, armor, or pickups, it should work.
