Disabling obituaries entirely

Post by MasterOFDeath »

Obituaries upon death, in both singleplayer and multiplayer, is just a novelty to me. I liked doom better when it dind't always flood your screen with who died by who (And it distracts me all the time too :P). So, if it isn't already possible, can obitiuaries just be disabled entirely? I know you can disable sprees and stuff though.

It's not yet possible to deactivate them but this is a really simple thing so why not?

Ah good, would like the option to disable them. :D I like doom better without such novelties.

Hmm, since we touched the matter... is there a single option to simply disable all newities?
Like, instead of turning off tons of compatibility stuff, a Vanilla Doom on / off switch.

Yes, use Doom2.exe!

Seriously, why would you want that from ZDoom? For that there are other source ports out there. PrBoom may be more to your liking. ZDoom's main goal is not perfect backwards compatibility.

Are you kidding?

@HobbsTiger1 - This comment is dumb, there may be other reasons why someone might deactivate the obituaries in the ZDoom engine, for whatever mod or wad he needs it, so it should really be possible and at last it isn't hard to do!

A side note: In SMMU (I think) obituaries could be disabled.
