Beyond [ZDoom.ORG] - The DooM Portal

Well, while browsing through my Top3 Doomportalpages, I discovered once again, that the ZDoom forums are the forums with the largest new-post count, the longest and most interesting discussions and the greatest activity over all 3 pages.

That's when I had the following idea: What about moving ZDoom.org to the next step of evolution and creating a real Doom Portal out of it, with lots of user news, with different new sections, with a team to help randy maintainancing the whole page and much more?

This would be the N°1 source for all doomers, that's for sure Beyond that: Just ZDoom news are going to be displayed, no EDGE, DOOM3 or CLASSIC DOOM stuff except it is related in any way to ZDoom This would also be a rule for all sections we would have here on ZDoom.org.

Ideas for sections:
- List of all ZDoom Wads in /idgames
- Top100 Userrated ZDoom wads (every user can vote for them, php script, will be alltime actualised)
- Download Section (with every programm ZDoom related, also latest ones from the forum)
- Screenshotportal (users can upload ZDoom map screenshots, must be approved by maintainers)
- Links (to ZDoom related stuff, homepages and users)
- ...?
- And all the usual stuff like Forums, Wiki, Editing Reference, etc.

Just tell me what you think, zdoomers and randy, I would volunteer to help with a complete new "ZDoom.org" Webdesign for the page and forum (references @ http://www.tormentor667.de), we just might need a PHP coder for the system and a few maintainers which help to fill and regulate the different sections.

I agree on everything but the forums (excepting of course, one related to the portal itself convering web design, etc), Wiki and Editing References cos they can still be found and discussed in here.

Manc's right btw. Without active moderating, any forum is a retard spamground. I've heard way too many comments about the awfulness of these forums, but then again I'm not really allowed to post here since I don't like these forums much, right? You people won't listen anyway.

I don't know, Thats a lotta site spac and bandwith that would be needed. If Randy says he has all of that space then I'm all for something bigger and better with ZDoom.org (I always thought it was kind of lacking, myself) As long as the old is kept a whole lot more new would be a good thing.

That info is probably better suited for the Wiki. Most are already there, if you spot any which are missing, please add them!
