Bobby Prince apparently has cancer

Post by Caligari87 »

Hey guys, there was a post on the Doom subreddit linking to a GoFundMe for Bobby Prince, who apparently has been battling cancer. Still working on verification and I've got a fellow moderator over there who I've asked to reach out to his contacts at Bethesda and elsewhere to verify. This is still fresh news, but it was tweeted by Tom Hall, so I'm pretty sure it's legit.

This totally sucks.

That sucks. :( I hope he gets better, soon. I saw this over at Doomworld, as well, but couldn't reply to the topic there.

That's just part of life, Wiw. :( It sucks when it happens to someone we admire, though. :(

Proof that 2016 isn't done being a shit year, yet.

Cancer is one of the primary causes of death in the modern world. Mostly because it's just part of how we're biologically constructed. That and Alzheimers are the biggest hurdles to being able to live as long as we'd like to.

Cancer is humanity's worst enemy. I hate how it manages to be extremely common, incurable and painful to die from at the same time. Not only that, but also most people find out that they have it far too late. And nobody's safe from it.. I have to say that i'm genuinely afraid of it.

Anyway, i hope everything turns up well for Bobby Prince. But i won't donate any money, because i'm too greedy.

While I agree with your point, I disagree with your jokes. They're tasteless and make nobody laugh. Most likely not even yourself. We are more tolerant and forgiving than the Doomworld community, but you will find that our tolerance is not infinite. Don't take us for fools. You are already low on my list after the map joke in the community project. It's not funny. Try something else.

You're right, that was pretty stupid. Sorry about that.

Cancer sucks indeed - but what sucks even more is a health care system that forces these people to collect money!

Lucky me living in a country where health care is actually WORKING! I have seen enough cancer patients wo would never had survived if they had to pay this stuff all on their own.

Cancer is not always certain death - there are tons of types and subtypes, which'd fill an entire medical encyclopedia. Several types of cancer are very easy to treat. My big sister had Hodgkin's lyphoma about 8 years ago, and it was a very progressive type, yet, the doctors were able to cure her. It's almost a decade later, and not a single tumour cell has shown up in her body.
In the other hand, lungs or pancreas cancer is outright fatal. Once you read the diagnosis, you might as well start digging your grave, because you will die, no matter what. Cancer is still a nasty thing, and despite the countless "miraculous discoveries", mankind is still dabbling in the dark when it comes how to destroy tumour cells, prions and viruses.
All in all, first, let's get some knowledge what kind of cancer he has.

Considering the way Europe is going, don't expect health care to keep working much longer.

I hope this isn't turning into another political discussion...

Pollution and poor diet have a lot to do with it, I suspect. Two things the US has plenty of, at least.

A friend of mine in Canada occasionally says "oh, I forgot how cheap food is down there."

I tell him "well, 'food'." the cheap stuff is full of starch, fat and salt, which is why we see so many overweight poor people. :(

Food was cheap in Europe, too, when I was there, but not as cheap as it is in the U.S. (depending on what you buy, really)

But European food is much more heavily regulated (thank god) - and everything doesn't always automatically include salt, sugar, or preservatives. Even "crap" food is healthier than the stuff we have here. And they've quite well proven that anything can taste just fine without it.
