Voice acting help needed

Post by DeXiaZ »

Hello, guys. Need some assistance here from you.

Me and my friend (who is in charge) are working now on certain mod based on MaxPayne2 engine. Our development process slightly exceeded the scope of final result into massive project. And now we are looking for volunteers, voice-actors, to be precise, for english-speaking characters.

Male and female, lead roles, supporting roles - all as it should. About 15-20 people altogether. If you had acting experience and you're interested in this and/or wanna try your sound skillz, please leave a post here or contact me PM for spesifics.

By the way, please, send me a voice record sample.

Thanks in advance :)

I wouldn't mind trying out for some voice acting. Got a decent mic, male, late 20's, amateur singer, natural voice slightly heady, tenor range (slightly nasal at times, but I can correct that).

My wife is late 20s, beautiful singing voice, natural midrange alto. I'm sure I could convince her to lay down some lines if wanted.

Let me know what you need!

Thank you very much for the fast reply! Well, I forgot to mention that we need some voice record samples, sorry  Our curator wants to hear all voices to understand which role you should dub. All other things about work we will explain a little bit later.

Anything in particular? Maybe one line to try per character, with some hints as well as what the character should "sound" like. I could just send you my normal speaking voice but it really wouldn't reflect my possible range.

You're absolutely right.

Let's try this:
The tense situation, when heroes find out a terrorist hideout with dead cops who must find out this hideout.

Female voice: We need to wait for reinforcements!
Male voice: Look, those bastards did those violent kills, we must attack now until they're not escaped! We can handle this!
Female voice: Dash it! Ok, let's go!
If I did mistakes in this dialogue (I mean, grammar problems), sorry, english isn't my native language so I've translated this dialogue right now

Awesome, thanks. Some of the language idioms ("violent kills", "not escaped") sound awkward in English though. Here's what I think is a more natural-sounding translation:
Female voice: We need to wait for reinforcements!
Male voice: Look, those bastards murdered them in cold blood, we've got to take them down now, before they have a chance to get away. We can handle this!
Female voice: Dammit! Ok, let's go!
I assume "dash it" is also some idiom or swear which didn't get translated properly. To me "dammit!" or "damn it!" sounds more natural.

Is this okay?

If you want another female voice, PM me, but I am not going to do arrangements or samples in public. For samples - give me a few lines, and the characterization you want for the lines, and I'll submit them when I have some time.

No. I just want more control over my work until it is actually released. I am a bit dubious about even doing this in the first place.

Ok, folks, I'll send PMs for everyone who're interested, because posting such files is embarrassing for some people and it's ok.
