Sonic Mania

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Sonic Mania

So, this is a thing. A thing that I don't want to have to wait until spring for.

It looks like this may be the one to save the franchise!

I am actually excited about this. 5 min of sonic on a gamegear before the batteries died is the extent of my sonic experience and none of the newer games have interested me enough to get them, but this just might get me into the series.

Sonic Mania does indeed look fantastic, but don't discount the games that are already out there! Colors and Generations were both very good games.

Well. This seems legit. No BS, good music according to the 2nd post. Hype exists.

Proper physics confirmed. Looks like Sega are researching other ways to deliberately fuck this up.

j/k this looks ace. And Taxman is on board, so there is a clear understanding of what made Sonic so ace back in the 90's. However, what I'd love to see in addition to this are PC/console ports of those excellent iOS version of 1 and 2 done by the same guy.

and the unreleased S3K port ...

what i find intriguing is that the Sonic sprite in this game is an edited one from the first two games, but not the S3&K. do people dislike that sprite or something?

Personally, yeah. There's just something about the shapes of his eyes and the shading I'm not too big a fan of.

Stealth is working on it, as well as a number of other very prominent fans. This is a pretty big deal. It would be like if a bunch of us all got hired on to work on the next Doom.

Are we finally going to be graced with a Sonic game that doesn't have all those subpar characters from the Dreamcast/Playstation 2 era? Cause that alone is enough to make me hand out cash.

Of course, this game will feature only the best character from that era:
