OSJC quake2 evolved weapon skin modifications

Post by osjclatchford »

so this is a higher res set of weapon skins for the default v_models (well mostly*) and is intended for q2 evolved or similar enhanced engine...

here are previews of the weapons to show you the kinda things that have been changed/improved:

now, before anyone starts squawking; the shotgun, grenadelaucher and railgun are not entirely mine but are based on others work with added details by myself. the ssg, machingun, chaingun and bfg are entirely my work (well drawn on the original q2 skins anyhow!)
this pack also includes some skins that aren't mine at all (blaster, rocketlauncher, hyperblaster) but they're in the pack cos they have minor alterations (glows, extra scratchmaps etc) and its what I'm using and I think they're nice and should be shared LOL note that the green bfg is indeed intentional... n64 style version (have very fond memories of n64 q2 dm...)

please let me know what you think folks!

enjoy!

Never have I loved the grenade launcher more than now. It just turned from my most hated weapon to cutest looking one.

thanks LUD! and what do you mean by putting the hate down on bitterman's little-sweetie grenadelaucher? she's always been a cutie-pie
only now she does it with real style  LOL
no seriously thanks I'm glad you enjoy... :D

The original colors looked kinda dull. I liked it, but now I like it even more. :D The contrast has been seriously improved. 10/10 would nade the living hell out of everything and everyone.

Normally I don't get too excited over high-res resource remakes, but those look pretty cool, and fitting. Good work!

Kinda off topic question, but why do Quake II's weapon models... move? Always wondered why they move when the player moves the weapon in his hand. It's like they are made of jelly or something.

Nevander: Sounds like you're talking about the effects of the MD2 format's imprecise storage of vertex coordinates, which can make the verts be in a different position from where they really should be as the model animates.

yeah! so distracting isn't it? shame as it ruins all the hard work in making them look credible and real. wobbly rubber stunt guns... :(
