For some days i've had problems with booting, usually the hard drive didn't appear in the list of bootable devices unless i restarted it several times, but today it just wont appear, and i can hear a constant beep, there is also a dos prompt with text which i'll add a photo of later.
I'm suspecting hard drive failure but i'm overly green when it comes to hardware, and i'm asking here because i am not in a financial position to go seek professional help.
Is my laptop finally kicking it?

If it's already to this point, see if you can salvage whatever data you can by booting the machine into some portable flavor of Linux (literally any live-USB or live-DVD should do the trick) and copying everything to an external disk.

The HDD not appearing in the bootable drives list sounds like more of a hardware problem than anything software. A lot of the times the pins get oxidised and screw with the connectivity; RAM also suffers a lot from this. See if you can detach the HDD and attach it again. If it starts appearing again, you might want to use a Hiren's Boot live CD/USB and run either MHDD or HDD Regenerator (In scan mode). MHDD gives better info, but both should work equally fine.
I'll wait for screenshot before giving further information and ideas. Error logs are useful, so send that stuff over.

Is the beep like a constant tone or in a pattern, and what's the hard drive make/manufacturer?

I meant the hard disk drive itself, and or what the beep pattern sounded like. ^^;

First things first, start with hardware. Unplug HDD and plug it in a different SATA port. If that doesn't help, get a different SATA cable. It's not uncommon for the cable itself to cause problems.

Here is a recording where the sound can be faintly heard.

My mother just got in contact with a familiar that can look into this, thanks for the help regardless.Lud wrote:First things first, start with hardware.
