what even is complex doom. i've heard it being mentioned a few times, but hearing it containing stuff like ethril mentioned makes me question why this mod seems to have such popularity among some people.

Started as a Hard Doom clone. Now it has loads of special effects, inventory items, new weapons, 2 or 3 (or more) rare spawns on each monster, etc.
It's not bad, but the feature creep (and power creep for that matter) is rather noticeable.

Actually, come to think of it, I think our friend here might be talking about Complex Doom Invasion, which is made by someone else (the same fellow behind Beast Incarnation; Feature/power-creep is basically this guy's M.O., haha)
That has a random monster spawner in the waiting room, and I've seen everything from Jitterskull to Super SaiyanLegendary Hell Knights to Battlelords to Ao Oni, so chances are it can spit out a Creeper, too.
