Wow, I can still remember my Zdoom login :D

Post by Lexus Alyus »

Wow, it's been a while and most of you probably have no idea who I am :D

Slade v3 is dead cool, especially as it's fully supported in OS X. I'm starting to feel the itch to make Doom maps again :D. I've been looking through some of my really old backups (circa 2004/05) and there's some good stuff. Why did I ever stop mapping?

I'm thinking of finishing ROTGS 2 as that was about half way finished before I stopped mapping.

For motivation, who really wants to see ROTGS 2 finished? I got an email requesting for it to be finished a few weeks ago, plus I remember exactly what I wanted to do with it (I never forget my own creative ideas).

To warm up I'll be starting work on a standard Doom2 32 level megawad. Nothing too fancy, although I can't promise it'll be finished :D. I've been working on lots of music over the past decade or so, so that'll feature in this megawad - in fact, that'll probably be the main event (original dubstep, Drum & Bass, Techno and various other styles of EDM).

That's all for now, if anyone cares :D

I'm most certainly interested, especially if the music in it winds up being as awesome as the stuff in the first one.

if you have the music around somewhere else, i'd like to hear it. i don't think i've heard much of that stuff in Doom wads, mostly because it's either MIDIs or MODs for size-reasons, or it's metal/orchestrated.

Ah hell, I recognize your name from somewhere, you did music for something but I can't remember, and it's driving me nuts (Not ROTGS). At first I thought it was action doom and rtc-3057 but as it turns out that was somebody else. Can somebody refresh my memory?

edit: Nevermind, I remember now. It was Titan 2.

Cool :D, I'm on soundcloud. http://www.soundcloud.com/damian672 - The more recent stuff is actually at the bottom (I posted a few much older tracks after I uploaded the newer stuff so the soundcloud page can act as a bit of a portfolio). I've not posted anything recently, but I am currently working on a few projects.

I also did music for Tormentors Stronghold and his map that uses lots of textures from Blood. They're actual audio rather than midi. Funnily enough I don't think I've played Titan 2 :D. The music used in it was some of the first music I ever did! (I've just read the credits :D)

Cool, there's still a lot of the older schoolers around :D I guess ZDoom is gong to be one of those games that I never stop playing :D

I think I should finish ROTGS 2, so I'll try not to loose motivation so fast this time :D

wow, the stuff you have on Soundcloud is really good. :) i can see how you did music from Stronghold, i remember some space-y DNB stuff in there from when i played it quite a long time ago.

you must've been working on stuff like this for quite a long time, right? i'm only about 3 years of experience myself, most of it being with MIDI. i've been lazy with uploading recent stuff, but i have most of my good stuff on my tumblr page here.

Insert yet another "welcome back good sir" from a semi-old person here. :P

32 maps is probably a bit much to chew at first, though -- might be worth restricting it to 7 or so, else the burnout may set in. Don't want to see you vanish again before ROTGS2 re-becomes a thing. O: :O
