What are Your thoughts on the DOOM Open beta?

Post by Ma77 »

I dont like it very much. It feels a bit boring compared to the Single player. The Guns feel weird and my laptop is toilet tier (Fps CHUGGS at best). I see the multiplayer being dead in a few months. Snap map looks fun though. And besides i dont buy Doom for multiplayer i get it for single player and the single player in DOOM 4 looks spectacular. What do u think guys?

It's fun.

We often wonder if the people who aren't having fun are the same people who aren't winning. That's what it sure seems like, anyway.

"It feels a bit boring compared to the Single player"
comming from the guy that never played the single player mode from doom 4...
But one thing is true, you may feel the game shitty if playing below 30fps, but 60+ fps looks really cool

To me, it looks too much like Halo in Hell.

Why does the beta have so many missing features? Isn't the whole point of the beta to test features and correct bugs?

Anyway, it is mediocre at best, exactly the same as the Closed Beta but slower leveling. Aside from the ability to climb ledges, I don't see anything else it does better than a free game like Xonotic.

I don't see what's so bad about it. It plays like a Quake4 Demontag by Bunginity Ward. It's a reasonable gamepad-appropriate "arena fps" game in its own right.

Those who think they're seriously expecting to recycle 1994 gameplay on top with AAA assets are retrodorks who are going to hate everything anyway. That and their "release mod tool's so we can fix DOOM" etc, like that'll ever happen.

Still, it's a better reboot than rott '13 and duke nukem forever so far. i had my fun ssging scrubs and doing a gangnam immediately afterward

as for performance it's fine, completely buttery smooth at the highest, and it looks like your usual screenspace-reflectiion-envy shooter. Hardly a drop or hitch here

Nutshell about what is happening with the community right now:

BTW, for me:
>i played with 190 ping
>lost all patience with the rigid movement and weak weapons
>uninstalled with sucess!

It's an insult, DOOM 2016, to both Doom and arena shooters.

I really dislike the two weapon limit, however it's not a show-stopper (if it carried over to singleplayer (it isn't) though, then it'd be another story). I'm very much enjoying it so far

I'm really loving it so far. I can definitely tell they increased the speed from the closed beta and alpha which is very good. I'm practically bunny hopping now.

Really wish the rapid-fire weapons were less niche so that there was a reason to use them instead of the rocket launcher, shotgun, and static cannon, but so far I've had a blast in this. Mostly just played Warpath, however.

It's also kind of annoying how it feels random if you'll get a glory kill or not ( especially since you typically want to just melee kill, instead of glory kill ) and I still haven't found the super weapon spawn on Heatwave.

Loadouts suck. Everything else is kickass. I have no idea how anyone could confuse it for Halo (besides MP armor), let alone COD.

i personally think bandwagoning closedmindedness and reluctantness are an insult to "doom and arena shooters"

i've had low expectations from id software from 1997 on, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy something new they put out anymore. Once you treat id software as the west's Final Fantasy (as i've been doing for 2 decades now) it's not too bad. Hell I think their farmed-out multiplayer portion is a blessing, and is a relatively unusually solid product by Bethesda standards.

Bethesda on the other hand.....
