Dang, RIP.

As for me, uh. I can't recall anything catastrophic, and it's been years since I've last had anything of that sort scrawling my system.
How is that possible? I don't fucking know - hard experience, vigourous ad/scriptblocking and putting trust in your HIPS system. (though i must say that comodo firewall has gone down the shitter since the OH SO GREAT VERSION !!6!!)

CIH was pretty widespread, it's also spread through one mirror of the older SiN demo as well.

Fortunately I wasn't affected by CIH, Melissa, etc. Though i do still have one or two Michelangelo'd floppies laying around here, and that's probably the nastiest on my record of cautiously avoiding viruses. That was through sneakernetting however


also zdoom forums have really caught this newcomersmalltalkmadness virus where these mass smalltalk threads are all made and constantly bumped back up to the front drowning actual discussion threads. Roblox forum syndrome in recent words, etc. Not naming names, but it has been an eternal september mainstay.

Something called 'Session Stealing' where someone has your entire internet history, and all the place where you have ticked the remember password box, they are automatically logged into all your accounts without even needing the password, worst part is you get it from only opening a link and not downloading anything. I got it from somebody who was angry at me for outbidding them on Ebay. It really opened my eyes as I had no idea there was something like this out there.

I have only been on the internet since 2007 so I've probably missed much. The only time I've actually been infected with something was a long time ago with a keylogger that came in a game crack.

It's a memorable event because I tore it to shreds with my bare hands in safe mode.

This Thing tormented me for a good 2 weeks and would always come back after 2 or 3 months at a time. When i would see a bunch of text on any website AND STEAM i would get these weird POP ups with this bullshit rippoff of amazon and shit and there would be times where i would get REDIRECTED to a there website and it PISSED me off and recently i removed it (as of late October of 2015) by doing a bunch of scans and cleaning my computer and uninstalling a bunch of programs. It does not help that you have to do like 20 steps to remove the damn thing from your computer.

I have not seen that thing since i did a MASSIVE clean up on my computer.
