Overload

Post by Rex705 »

Back in the days of MS DOS came a game called Descent that like Doom became super popular. Like Doom Descent changed all the rules and redefined gaming creating a new genre 6DOF (six-degree-of-freedom) shooter. Like Doom Descent is still enjoyed to this very second. Now after all of these years the creators of Descent are back with a new 6DOF game that looks and feels just like Descent. They need your help to bring back this classic fan favorite and spark new life into the genre it created. Overload is on kickstarter right now on it's final day and needs all the help it can get.

Not sure what Descent is and hoe 6DOF works? Check out some videos.

You can check out the demo for yourself on Steam - http://store.steampowered.com/app/450220/

So head on over to Kickstarter and help bring back Descent! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/re ... escription

I think the kickstarter is going to fail; barely above 2/3 from the goal with less than 24 hours to go.

^ to add to that, the length of the campaign was a whole month, should put things into perspective.

It's a shame really, the preview looks really good.
Ah well, at least there are a couple of other games around that have tried to fill Descent's boots.

Yeah, but this one actually had the Descent team behind it.

The game will probably still get made anyway, but with less funds to pay for playtesting and additional content.
4. The additional funding we seek now will largely be used for relatively lower-risk development such as game balancing and creating the content (enemies, weapons, and levels) needed for the full game.

Well, I'm disappointed that the campaign didn't reach its goal, but the fact that they've got a playable teaser out already (and a damned impressive and fun one, at that!) is a very good sign.

True, but that one doesn't have the project leads from the original Descent games on board.

I know that, by what i have seen, Descent Underground is already failing as a 360º shooter, having everything bad the recent games have (such as microtransactions).

Overload is already a win due the fact there's a F2P Teaser.

It's not a real sequel, it's just people who use the same title.

If there's a game that can be described as a sequel, it's Overload.

Where are we going to get $65,000 in only a day? I can't exactly afford to do anything noteworthy for them.

Just need to spread the word get people to come and get others to raise what they pledged. I have seen kickstarters finish at the last second before it's not impossible.

I enjoyed getting lost in the six degrees of mazy madness back in the day. I decided to pledge. The game looks fun even in its current state.

No Kickstarter has made 1/3 of its goal on the final day unless it's already wildly successful and already over its goal*.

Don't hold your breath, guys.

EDIT: *Well, I suppose it's possible if a goal was like $50 and someone pledged $20. But I refer solely to high-budgeted Kickstarters.
