SkullTag
SkullTag
Does anyone know tell me how to fix the error in the engine SkullTag, when I run some pk file or wad that has some common mistake he does not perform, unlike gzdoom or others. I do not know if this is something of himself or if I'm doing something wrong but if I run the same file in ZDoom or gzdoom it works.
Re: SkullTag
Just don't use Skulltag. It is now Zandronum anyway.
Re: SkullTag
I like the name Zandronum more; it's more alien. SkullTag sounds like American football to me.

What exactly happened? I was always curious as to why it died.Gez wrote: If there hadn't been a dispute between Skulltag's original developer and the rest of the team, Zandronum would be Skulltag today.
Re: SkullTag
I do not like much of Zandronum but there are some PK that only work on it and Skulltag, for example SBrightmaps, do not know why but GZDoom they are not working, does anyone know why?
Re: SkullTag
Due to older controversy, Carnevil held onto his site a little tighter than usual, which caused some problems. Carnevil and the rest of the team couldn't come to an agreement on some core issues, especially regarding the site, so they forked the project, and the entire team shifted to the new project, which caused the rest of the community to follow. I was not personally involved with the fork (I intentionally distanced myself from the Skulltag community for personal reasons), but have been staying keen on some of the issues affecting it.X-CrAzYkOoL-X wrote:What exactly happened? No I am not proud of the role I played in that, but there's no sense in hiding it. So it's all there. There's no sense in arguing those old issues now, though - it's all merely there for historical reference. I still send Carnevil some friendly and supportive emails every now and then - I harbor no ill will towards him, and I want him to succeed. It's just sad that a hobby for him turned into a nightmare.

If you meant this sbrightmaps.pk3, it's working with GZDoom for me.doomguy88 wrote:I do not like much of Zandronum but there are some PK that only work on it and Skulltag, for example SBrightmaps, do not know why but GZDoom they are not working, does anyone know why?

Politics and a stubborn individual that procrastinated and had no consideration. When SkullTag jumped back to Brad Carney's server again (.NET -> .COM transition), no one really had access to the site resources internally and the server owner - Carnevil - would NOT provide anyone with access to fix critical issues with the site.
I might add more to this later, class is about to start.
Re: SkullTag
Not working, I tried and I think the problem is in the Gzdoom engine_mental_ wrote:If you meant this sbrightmaps.pk3, it's working with GZDoom for me.doomguy88 wrote:I do not like much of Zandronum but there are some PK that only work on it and Skulltag, for example SBrightmaps, do not know why but GZDoom they are not working, does anyone know why?

Re: SkullTag
Could you describe how it's "not working"? Does it print an error message? Does it crash on startup?
Re: SkullTag
I realized that only pks and wads made for them to work (specific version for Zandronum) the same way is to Skulltag, the problem is that I do not know why but the brightmaps not work for Gzdoom but Zandronum and SkullTag they run normally. I think the problem is with the Gzdoom "tested with versions 1.9 and lower, my PC does not run the g2 pre".wildweasel wrote:Could you describe how it's "not working"? Does it print an error message? You haven't really answered my questions.doomguy88 wrote:I realized that only pks and wads made for them to work (specific version for Zandronum) the same way is to Skulltag, the problem is that I do not know why but the brightmaps not work for Gzdoom but Zandronum and SkullTag they run normally. Does the in-game console print any errors about SBrightmaps when you run it?
Does the game crash when you run with SBrightmaps?

Script error, "SmoothDoom.pk3:deco/monsters/zombieman.txt" line 13:
Unexpected token string constant "CasingToggle"
because zandronum and skulltag not run certain files while gzdoom perform most?
My biggest question is why brightmaps does not work in gzdoom and Skulltag yes.

Re: SkullTag
You're showing me an error message for Skulltag (don't use Skulltag) and it's reporting an error that is not in any way related to the brightmaps (it's from SmoothDoom, which needs a MUCH newer port than Skulltag - don't use Skulltag.)
