From John Romero, uploaded just a few hours ago. Showing off footage of the first world with only 1-1 being a carbon copy of the NES original.
(And this is not the Dangerous Dave version some people know about)

While composing a post for this video, I just got the coolest vision of an alternate reality.
What if id really was merged into Nintendo? Could you even imagine a Metroid game made by id - how simply awesome that would be?
Of course, I think Adrian would've quit by that point, but it'd be weird seeing John "Suck It Down" Romero holding an office in that sort of family-friendly establishment.

Hehe, suddenly I had a vision of Doomguy hitting ?-boxes, eating mushrooms and growing twice in size, the Cyberdemon would be like "WTF?"cambertian wrote:While composing a post for this video, I just got the coolest vision of an alternate reality.

IMHO the platformer games made by ID is highly in par with Super Mario or other NES-based platformers for that matter. For instance, I like Commander Keen better than Super Mario Bros, but it's just me I guess. After all, PC is much more modular than NES, therefore a PC game could offer more features.

It's a shame Prime does not comply with the CREATIVE VISION of the great and mighty Yoshio Sakamoto.

Metroid Prime was fantastic, even though the games got progressively worse. that sounds like a negative thing to say, but playing them in order, the first game is definitely the best and most enjoyable.
i'm still pissed the Metroid franchise is basically in the crapper right now after it's been treated recently.

Yeah, one has to wonder what the hell happened to the series director. Like... we're talking about the same man behind super metroid... and then many years later, other m.
(also we're kinda deviating from the topic here)

Other M doesn't look bad in terms of gameplay (though they really should have used the numchuck, which Sakomoto denied.), But the story and all that is definitely almost Sonic 06 levels of stupid.
