Star Wars Z95
I started making a model of the Z95, but there are several variants and the artwork is drastically different for even similar models.
Anybody plugged into the Star Wars Extended Universe know all about the Z95?

Re: Star Wars Z95
Well, in my younger days, I loved to play TIE Fighter, that was where chronologically the Z-95 Headhunters first appeared, so I would stick to that design if I were you. I don't know overly too much about them - they have two laser cannons, warhead launchers, and they fell apart from a stronger fart...yuh, it's really how weak they are.

Re: Star Wars Z95
I would agree. Only problem with using a game as old as TIE Fighter for the basis of model-building is how low-res and low-poly the source material is. It's probably as close to canon as you can get, though.

Thing is, there are bomber versions and all kinds of crap with different engine and laser configurations. They've also ret-conned just about everything into the Prequels, so there's a couple Z95s from that era that look nothing like the one in the game.
This is the first version, which I'm currently re-working and adding landing skids:

Re: Star Wars Z95
Honestly I'd just go with the specs and design as depicted in the X-Wing series. It's basically just a design predecessor to the X-Wing, and as such looks a lot like it.
Just out of curiosity, is there a project of some kind where this model is going to be used?

Yeah, I'm learning 3D modeling and Blender and this is one of the things I started with.

I think I fixed the canopy well enough.

Looks legit, I always considered the Z95 to be a smaller brother of the X-Wing. This model looks goodGalaxy_Stranger wrote:I think I fixed the canopy well enough.

Yeah, the lego set is the Prequel version of the Z-95.demo_the_man wrote:If i remember lego made a z-95 set a year or to. Thats the latest i remember
Thanks! Yeah, the Z-95 is significantly smaller than the X-Wing. I think I finished the mesh last night. Had to re-do everything to downgrade the detail level. Gotta re-work the x-wing next. All the meshes have way too many vertices. Anybody know how to make textures?Tormentor667 wrote:Looks legit, I always considered the Z95 to be a smaller brother of the X-Wing. This model looks good

Looks great.
Weren`t these ships all over the place in Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy? You could look into screenshots of these games for reference, I think. :3

Re: Star Wars Z95
Huh - I don't know. I'll watch some let's plays and check it out.
I think the overall design is correct. I think I'll add the missile launchers as well. Might even add some lines to that hump to make it more smooth. Many of the difference I see are between the canopy, the hump and the laser gun placement on the wings.
The thing is - all "canonical" star wars sources are incorrect on certain points. NONE of them acknowledge the Z95s appearance in the classic X-Wing and Tie Fighter games which was its first video game appearance.
Anybody know of any good Star Wars fanboy forums I could go to?

Re: Star Wars Z95
Wookieepedia is all I can really find; apparently X-Wing and TIE Fighter are no longer considered canon, though, so you're probably only going to find them referenced in the "Legends" section (the new name for the Expanded Universe).
