2.8pre-402-g4e683d3 rendering (etc) problems

With the above build, certain sprites don't get rendered and enemies may die as soon as the map starts.
Basically, it's the same as this - as reported for GZDoom - except that the map geometry rendering issues only affect OpenGL.
