The Offtopicness

As everyone can see, certain tendency for the starting and "feeding" of the offtopic subjects at Zdoom forums became something of concern (not of mine really, but a bit of "tension" can be felt around everytime a thread goes too far..)

A vast majority of this threads are interesting enough to keep going, but they can sometimes be inappropriate, useless, too extensive or even offensive.

With that in mind, I decided to open a new message board so anyone having something offtopic to say, a pissing contest to end or whatever you're up to, can safely tell it to the world without having to worry about being out of place. This way the Zdoom forums will be clean and happy.

The forum does allow guests so registration is completely optional, the format is also very similar to this one.

Start using it :D

It's nice You've cared about threads being killed but spammers and flamers, but such people were, are and will be unfortunately. Without a moderator (and that was discussed like 1000 times O_o ) we don't have a way to deal them, fortunately, we can ignore a person that attempts to ruin our thread and continue with the discussion, that is, if our discussion partner also ignored the troublemaker and doesn't get lost in mix of spam/trolling/offtopicness and normal on-topic stuff, which can result in a broken discussion.
Plus there's already something for those that want to babble, it's #notzdoomrelated :)

Well, this board, if people agree using it, will put an end to the ignoring, post deletion and locking at Zdoom forums, basically the board is a place for the vain and the forbidden, the posts gone wrong.... something to kill time as well, just as "I got my gf to suck me off", "the new album by ***** is garbage", "that **** called me **** so I'm pissed" and so on

This site is giving me Kerry banners, hence it must die (not because I support Bush, but because the internet is for porn) :cheeky:

In Poland we have our own political morons that give us a huge headache already, I don't really give a flying fuck about Bush or Kerry and I get at least 5 mails daily about each one. Had to activate my Spam filter :( which ofcourse co$t$.

I would demonstrate you some Bulgarian, but since we use cyrillic, I suppose it'll come through as mostly hieroglyphs. Actually, I will anyway :D

Днес е чудесен ден да си стоиш вкъщи!

Speaking of threads that go off topic... (Which, ironically, was part of the original subject :D )

I'd like to see people exercising more restraint in the bugs forum in particular. I'm not saying that I am better than anyone else. I have the ability to derail something as well as the next man. However, if the threads in the bugs forum get derailed and have lots of comments from people just chatting or saying things like "OMG LOLZ!!!!111111one" all the time the point of the thread gets lost.

The point of any thread in bugs should be to highlight something that may have gone wrong with Zdoom to allow Randy to track it down and fix it. On topic, helpful comments about what might be causing the bug or suggestions for solutions are obviously fine, but just go and look at a few threads in bugs. A lot of them have just filled up with shit. Sorting out and finding the few useful, on topic comments in such threads becomes a difficult task and the comment may simply get missed. Then we could all lose out.

So, I would urge people - if you are in the bugs forum and feel like posting something, ask yourself, is this comment valuable? will it help resolve the problem? will it provide useful additional info? If the answer is no, don't post it. If you really feel the need to post about the subject, but it isn't something that is directly going to help resolve the problem highlighted in the thread, perhaps consider posting about it in another place - like starting a new thread in general or editing (if appropriate).

I will if you will. ;)

@The Slavs: Они все мудаки - или "курвы", как угодно. :)

@Doom: If it doesn't use phpBB, I'm not using it. :P
