Re: Doom riff ripoffs
Nice. I'd heard most, but not all, of these comparisons before. There is, perhaps, a little wiggle room with some of them but most are undeniable. Is it really a rip off if he uses one of his own tracks as a base though?

Re: Doom riff ripoffs
true, the wolf one is a remake

Re: Doom riff ripoffs
What do you use to make the Doom music sound like that? They don't sound like that when I play.

Re: Doom riff ripoffs
Quick corrections. MAP04 is "The Focus". MAP03 is "The Gauntlet".
Then MAP25 is "Bloodfalls". MAP26 is "Abandoned Mines".
Some are fairly obvious to how they influenced Mr. Prince, like Pantera's "This Love" with "Waiting For Romero..." Others I don't see it as much.

Re: Doom riff ripoffs
Obviously he didn't do a blatant ripoff of most of them, but instead used them as a base melody, and sped/slowed it up/down.

alright sarky bastard

Re: Doom riff ripoffs
Map20's music is "Message for the Arch-Vile".
Also, long before I went on the Internet and discovered all the work that had been done to trace Prince's music back to its inspirations; I always thought that the secondary riff in "Deep into the Code" (starting 5:37 in the vid) was slowed down from the main riff in "At Doom's Gate". Might explain why some people people hear "Behind the Crooked Cross" in E1M1's music.

Re: Doom riff ripoffs
well its a common riff, but it was most likely inspired by metallica, since BTCC was used for Deep in the CodeGez wrote:Map20's music is "Message for the Arch-Vile".

Re: Doom riff ripoffs
I vaguely recall someone connected to Doom's development (Romero?) saying that Prince had a previous career as a lawyer, so when Id asked him to basically cover a bunch of metal songs, he knew exactly how much he could get away with.
Re: Doom riff ripoffs
I always thought that E1M1 sounded more like the opening riff to Painkiller than No Remorse, but a combination of the two makes the most sense.
