You're using Doom95 that came with your copy of Doom? Go ahead and ditch that program. Instead, use ZDoom (it's on this website, actually). You'll get your classic Doom fix - and be able to use your mouse.

ZDoom is a stand-alone replacement to Doom.exe or Doom95.exe. After installing the game, drop ZDoom.exe into your Doom folder and run it. You don't need to worry about Doom 95 or it's crappy mouse support any longer. :)

forget about your doom folder, just unzip ZDoom somewhere and put Doom2.WAD in there and forget about all the old doom95 files

DooM95 has more bugs than Legacy. And that's saying something.

Try this:

Doom95 is like a rock, only less clever. :)

Shankara, you will have realised, by now, that we don't think much of Doom95.

The reasons?

Well, Doom95 offers little beyond stable operation under Windows, and mouse support. Unfortunately, a flip-side is that, unlike the original Doom and Doom2, you're restricted to playing only one wad at a time, and Dehacked support is right out, quite effectively preventing the use of most total conversions.

Zdoom, on the other hand, lets you do pretty much everything you could do with Doom/Doom2, while adding the few benefits of Doom95, and a whole slew of new stuff as well, including the removal of almost all the old technical limitations of the original engine, and support for Heretic, Hexen, and what will hopefully, soon, be complete support for Strife.

By the way, welcome to the asylum, in case no one has mentioned it yet! :)

I just bought Ultimate Doom for use with ZDoomGL. Doom95 does not work at all with WinME. The frontend works but when I try to enter the game it immediately goes to a black screen and freezes my pc. Oh well ZDoomGL works fine for me it was just a little dissapointing that I couldn't run Doom95 for comparison purposes.

The fact that you can't get it to run says enough.
