Heretic and Hexen Support

I just recently Bought copies of Heretic and Hexen off ebay, and are waiting for them to arrive in the mail, and I was wondering if Zdoom can flawlessly run these two games. I know they have support, but if there are any problems that Zdoom has running them, I don't want to use it to play them for the first time. Beleive me, i've played a few games that have screwed up whenever I played them for the first time, and it ruined the whole thing! The main reason I wnat to use Zdoom is Mouselook (can't play without it), but if i *have* to, I can use the original heretic.exe or hexen.exe. Are there any bugs regarding these two games that happen when runnning just the main Iwad (no Pwads)? This question was mainly directed at Randy, but if anyone has an answer, don't hesitate to reply!

I recently ran into a minor problem with Heretic.
When I began on the first level of "City of the Damned", the game palette looked real ugly. All I did was press Ctrl-alt-Delete to return to the desktop, then I returned to game and everything went back to normal.

That's Windows messing with the game palette... To fix that, go to Options, Display, and turn "Directdraw palette hack" on.

Other than that, there seems to be no problems.

Those games are fully supported now AFAIK. Heretic has been for quite a while and it sure looks better played through zdoom (hi res). The game was not designed for jumping however so if you really want to solve the puzzles (mainly find the needed switches) you should not jump. Other than that, it's fun when you jump as well.
I think Randy has finished Hexen support now as well, I have no problem playing it, although have not played all the way through.

I've played Hexen all the way through it and you will not find any major problems.
In fact the only problem I'm aware of is that when a texture is "blanked out" in a script, you can now see a vertical line where the texture would be... if it wasn't ... you know, blanked... This looks worse when the texture is tiled. IIRC, this was blamed on the fact that ZDoom runs it in a higher resolution. Someone also mentioned that it may have happened in Hexen.exe anyway, so it might not even be a ZDoom bug.
In any case, you're safe to go ahead and play it. The game will work fine.

And that's why there's support for high-res texture in ZDoom.
Or was that ZDoomGL?

In any case, you're safe to go ahead and play it. The game will work fine.
That problem should have been fixed in 2.0.47 in which the blank texture is actually blanked out.

Can it truly be considered at all ethical for someone to resell a computer game that they can still play after it's been sold?

I finished my copy of Hexen last month (after buying it in July last year) but it was awesome, and Zdoom is a very good engine to run it from.

The point is that Xaser has legally obtained that copy of the game and is free to do what he likes with it. If the person he bought it from continues to use the game without owning a licensed copy, then HE is pirating, not Xaser. Simple case of SEP here. (For those heathens out there that aren't interstellar hitchhikers, that's "Somebody Else's Problem.")

Well, I tried that, and it worked okay for a while. However, when I tried to play Hexen later, the same problem happened again!
--EDIT-- Uh, hold the phone... I figured out the problem myself.
