Player on top of monster
Umm, that doesn't sound right (impse, anyone?) Anyhow, if the player start is placed near enough to a monster, the monster gets fragged; I remember this behavior being different, IIRC the player got stuck. Disregard if this is normal.

It's probably just a change in the spawning code that makes it act as a telefrag. I can't really think of a situation where you would WANT the player trapped inside an enemy at spawn, and this would alleviate any issues in coop or deathmatch (monster-fest anyone?) where the player might otherwise respawn inside a roaming enemy and be unable to move.

Yeah, this is definately an improvement. I remember one time playing a 2 player game (With Legacy, Ugh. Well, it's okay for split-screen playing, but that's only because no other ports have it.
) on Doom2 MAP15. IN Coop, there's a cyberdemon in the map, which makes for some extra action. At first, me and my brother (he was the other guy playing) tried to ignore the cyberdemon, but eventually, he decided to place himself right in front of the elevator at the start, so whenever we tried to get out, we got blasted by the cybie and forced back up to the start again. Then, the cyberdemon actually came up on the elevator and into the starting room. (!) We then had to take him out using pistols, which was a huge pain. However, even though he was in the start room, we couldn't ever telefrag him because of that stupid doom behavior. That would have been much better to just kill him like that.

My brother and his friends used to get together with their TVs (2 or 4, whatever they could scrounge) and a copy of Goldeneye and use velcro and posterboard to cover up the other players' screens. Yes, they were still tiny, but it added the ability to sneak around without your enemies knowing where you are. It's probably the l33test multiplayer you were gonna get on an N64.
