(G)Zdoom affecting the mouse outside (G)Zdoom?

Post by Enjay »

This is only something that I have noticed recently and it is fairly random so I don't really have enough for a proper bug report. So I just want to see if anyone has experienced something similar.

Quite a few times recently, I have noticed that my mouse is not as responsive as it should be in Windows. what I mean by that is the pointer doesn't travel as far across the screen as it should when I move the mouse on the mouse pad. It is like my mouse sensitivity has been turned down. I can cover the entire screen with my pointer, but I have to move the mouse further than I would do normally to do so. It affects both horizontal and vertical movement.

I wasn't even sure which program might be causing it but I had certainly been running Gzdoom and Zdoom at times when I noticed it. However, I just booted and the only program that I had run was GZdoom and when I quit, the mouse was "slowed". It wasn't as bad as it can be, but it definitely wasn't right. I went back into GZdoom played for a bit then quit and my mouse was OK again. I haven't noticed the mouse being the wrong speed actually in the game.

This has been with recent SVN builds and I'm on WinXP with a MS Intellimouse optical.

So, is anyone else experiencing something similar and is there anything obvious that (G)Zdoom might be doing in this area that could cause such an effect?

I've noticed this happen with Doom Builder actually; that Doom Builder would slow down the mouse. But that was back when I used windows so that was a long time ago and I can't remember the details about it.

Curious. I sometimes get this, but only after my son has been playing his on-line, in-browser, games such as Adventure Quest and Dragon Fable. re-booting seems to be the only way to (temporarily) fix the problem.

Hmm I've had it with a few games, mainly if the program has been forcefully closed maybe due to an error, or through the Control Panel.
The way I fix it though however if to simply go into mouse options and change it to something, change the settings then change it back to what it should be...Usually helps-

Oooh, this would explain that... I'd never have thought of linking that to Doom, but yes, now that I think about it the last times I had that happen it was after having run ZDoom or GZDoom...

I have a different configuration from Enjay (Vista 32 SP1 for the OS, Logitech MX400 for the mouse).
