The Most Epic Wow Remake Ever Made

---- THE MOST EPIC WOW REMAKE EVER MADE ----

Where did this idea come from!?
I'm glad you asked! I was playing Wow: Enhanced one day, and thought it was good for a laugh. A remake of the worst wad ever made, with the only difference being some cool detail. I also remember being mildly disappointed that it wasn't longer. So I looked at this little jokemap, and how it expands on wow.wad... and I thought, what would happen if someone expanded it even more... indeed, to the highest level possible? And that's where this came from.

Isn't trying to make wow.wad into something good a bit pretentious and idiotic?
You are clearly not my target audience.

How do we know this isn't just a [censored word] joke?
[censored word] jokes don't have screenshots!

Fair enough. How does a wow remake have three maps?
The same way that a remake of a nine map episode can have ten levels!

How much of this wad will resemble anything about wow.wad?
Very close to none of it. The illusio-pit doesn't even have a cyberdemon in it, and the pit itself is done with Transfer_Heights.

Then why call it a wow remake!?
Cuz.

You said "first three maps". This wad's not even finished? Why are you giving it to us?
Open testing, of course. I'm passing it around to see what everyone thinks. After all, I want this to be as good as possible when it's released.
That said, I would like ask some things of you all if you're going to comment; don't just say "this sucks" or "needs more detail". That doesn't tell me anything. It would be a lot MORE helpful if you could do something like, say, point out a specific area of the wad that needs improvement, and make a recommendation or two about what could make it better. After all, this isn't the final product, so saying "this sucks and is hopeless!" is completely useless and will only serve to make you look like a jackass.

So what am I to expect from this?
Well, so far, three maps, each with progressively more complex architecture and challenging gameplay. Each one opens up with a cutscene (which you can skip through quickly by pressing the Use key, should you desire). Each one has a boss, which are nothing like the ridiculous monstrocities I used to be known for. Each map is pistol-start compatible, though pistol-starting MAP03 could be problematic.
As a side note, MAP03 is the only one that hasn't received testing outside of myself playing it.

Fine, I'll give it a try. Where is it?

An old forum veteran officially returns with a wad and everyone ignores it? Whaaat? >_> Well, welcome back anyways. :P

As for the wad - Its good so far. My only major complaints and criticisms I can sum up really quick would be Map 3 needs a lot of work: the huge rooms look bland and flat with no interesting architecture or detail and the gameplay really suffers. (Bad room size/monster ratios). Oh, and the blasted boss of Map 3. ARGHH.

Just fix up the gameplay and touch up Map 3 a bit and I'd say good to go so far. ;P

I'm on map03 right now. Shit's amazing, even for a remake of such an infamously shitty (read: godlike) wad.

Also, 100 internets to you for the intermission music. :D

Heheh. Thanks both for the kind words and the criticism. :D

MAP03 is getting worked on to make it less boring, so no worries about that.

@Bashe: Amazing, eh? Well... heh. Thanks. :P

Fortunately, my plans only call for two more maps... making this the only project I've ever been the slightest bit likely to finish. :D

this is worse than the original, i mean ffs cutscenes..... why didn't you move the storyline to a huge ass readme file, if you're going to remake wow.wad you should do that because wow.wad didn't have hesitation interruptions

That's... an interesting way to guage whether it's better or worse than the original.

also i like how the lift in level 1 turned into an illusio-pit when you hit the lower switch one-too-many times.

Whenever I hear the name of the "wow" wad mentioned, there's quite a stigma to the statement. Depending on how well you do this one, you might basically create a wow remake that is totally "un-wow'ish" in appearance, gameplay, aesthetics, details and just about everything else. I'll probably test this one sometime this or next week just to sate my curiosity at what work you've done so far and possibly offer some information you might find useful for making the wad as, **AHEM**, "un-wow'ish" as possible. (_)3

Good luck on bringing this "anti-wow" project to fruition, by the way...

After this, it would be nice to see another one, called WoW. Hexen monsters galore.

Or make one where you're trapped in the illusio-pit and the cybderdemon is up on the floor above.
