Crash Dialogs

Post by aabra »

After loading up Zdoom, to simulate a crash at the console you can type:

crashout

The problem however is that many computers aren't getting the proper crash dialog... myself included. :(

I get this:

while my friend, correctly receives this:

Maybe this is a bug in Zdoom, but maybe I'm missing a .dll file or something? I don't know. Any help would be appreciated.

edit: I forgot to mention that this is with Zdoom 2.1.7

You will get the first box if the crash handler crashes itself. I'm not sure that there's something that could be done about it - but in any case I don't consider this an urgent matter.

It's strange because when I use the crashout command in GZDoom, I receive the crash dialog properly. The problem only occurs in Zdoom.

It can't be a missing .dll, then.

Oh, I just thought I'd mention that this bug was actually fixed somewhere between 2.1.7 and revision 540. The latest version of Zdoom gives me the crash dialog correctly. :P

Sorry for the bump but I still don't get a crash report dialog using the 'crashout' command with r541. However, they work fine in SkullTag so I assume they fixed whatever the problem is. Would it be possible to obtain the code they used to fix it?

It was a GZDoom fix involving assembly.

So the next version of GZDoom has this problem fixed?
