Act Of Violence - A Dying Breed

The year is 1998.

After being dealt a crippling blow by a mysterious vigilante, and being forced to make a deal with the Triads,
Japan's criminal organizations were in shambles. One organization in Shinjuku seemed to thrive, but barely.

Until all Hell broke loose.

After a deal gone terribly wrong just happened to come right in the middle of a demon invasion,
the only enforcer left standing had to pursue bloody revenge.

Kenji Igarashi, a chain-smoking, hard-drinking man of very few words, is the only thing between mankind and oblivion.

God save us all.

Act Of Violence is a mod inspired by the Yakuza, and it's many depictions, from Miike to Kitano, with a tinge of John Woo.

Are the teleporter sounds supposed to be silent? It's a little jarring, but I get it if that's the intent.

Otherwise, I really like the feel of this.

I had only played (and really enjoyed) Raging Bull when it comes to your mods, but I decided to try this one as my 2nd, and glad to report I'm enjoying it. I haven't played it THAT much yet, but so far everything is pretty solid. I especially like the Super Shotgun replacement, because it feels like an auto-shotgun that has the trade-off of a slow reload time. Really makes you have to decide when it's a good time to reload, and to try to save it for bigger enemies.

My only nitpick (keyword nitpick) is the pistol not having an obvious change to the reload animation when you use the entire clip, but I feel that's just because I'm an addict of cool reload animations

EDIT: I will add two things. I'm not too fond of how bouncy the grenades from the grenade launcher are. More often than not if I miss my target, the grenade bounces back to me then explodes. I also worry about how the explosive barrels work. It's cool, but I wonder if it would make maps like Doom 2's MAP23: "Barrels of Fun" or Doom the Way Id Did's E3M6: "Depths" extremely difficult, since they involve running from a crap ton of barrels placed together.

This mod is worth it just for that infinite ammo powerup. Its so fun to run around and just dump on all the enemies.

Just finished the Moonblood wad using this mod, so here's one more thought. I felt like the mod was missing a good sniper weapon. (not necessarily a sniper rifle, but just a weapon that's good for long distances) The best long distance weapons seemed to be the shotgun and the deagle, but I don't know if it's just me, but once you get dual deagles, it feels like the accuracy goes lower, and you can't switch back to a single deagle.

EDIT: Okay, halfway through another mapset I found another thing bugging me to death: The hit flinch. Firing the grenade launcher only to get shot by a hitscan enemy, throwing my aim off in time to fire a grenade and blow myself up is so irritating.

Just wanna say the extra damage on the first slash of the katana was a cool touch and if it wasn't there I was gonna do it myself. The intro is really cool too.

I finally played it, and even recorded this video. The weapons are very satisfactory to use and have consistent looks, and I loved the animations, especially the level start ones. Some graphics give a nostalgic feeling and also fit very well in the overall theme. Another LossForWords' good job.

I noticed a bit of a problem in maps with very small corridors, like Sigil 1. It seems as if the player in this mod is slightly bigger than in vanilla, because sometimes when you have to squeeze in through a tiny passage, you can't in the mod while you could in vanilla.

Please stick to the topic for discussion. This post has nothing to do with this topic.

Hey.

Just stopping by to let you know i've read the complaints.

-The akimbo weapons aren't supposed to decrease in acccuracy when dual-wielded. They're supposed to increase fire-rate and ammo capacity, first and foremost.
-Hitflinch is reduced, if not negated, if you have armor on, if i remember correctly.
-There's only a small chance that exploding barrels may end up pinballing. Plus, you move much faster and jump higher than the vanilla player, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal to outpace enemies before they detonate them.

Some of these issues i might've overlooked.
I'm working on another project at the moment, but i'll look into it later, and as soon as i do, i'm keeping you posted.
