Contrary to popular belief, we are not all-knowing-all-seeing magical beings!

If you want help you're going to have to provide lots of info. Like what is your hardware, what is your operating system, what version of GZDoom/LZDoom/whatever you're using, what mods you're loading, how you're loading it, what you've already tried for fixing the problem, and anything else that is even remotely relevant to the problem.

We can't magically figure out what it is if you're going to be vague, and if we feel like you're just wasting our time with guessing games we will act like that's what you're really doing and won't help you.

GZDoom - Hexen - "recover" Multiplayer Campaign

Post by ClémentXVII »

Hello,

A couple of years ago I was playing Hexen multiplayer with my son through GZDoom on Linux. Recently we tried playing again and realised the saves were gone - or, to be more precise GZDoom used a more logical path system for save games.

While previous savegames were in ~/.config/gzdoom/, the updated GZDoom now looks for the savegames in ~/.config/gzdoom/savegames/<game_identifier>.

Since we were already quite advanced in the Hexen campaign (Map30 Griffin Chapel), we decided to move the previous save games in the updated location, and unfortunately it seems like when we load the game we both spawn at the same location and there's no way for us to continue/reset the game using the existing saves.
It looks like both save games have different md5sums.

Now, since Hexen has (unlike DooM, Heretic and others) a way of interconnecting maps with one another, is it possible to play multiplayer coop Hexen starting from a specific "Chapter" ?
Or have we lost all progress and should we perhaps start anew?

Is there a specific logfile I could check for more information on this?
