Contrary to popular belief, we are not all-knowing-all-seeing magical beings!

If you want help you're going to have to provide lots of info. Like what is your hardware, what is your operating system, what version of GZDoom/LZDoom/whatever you're using, what mods you're loading, how you're loading it, what you've already tried for fixing the problem, and anything else that is even remotely relevant to the problem.

We can't magically figure out what it is if you're going to be vague, and if we feel like you're just wasting our time with guessing games we will act like that's what you're really doing and won't help you.

Flatpak GZDoom 4.12.2 can't identify IWADS, won't boot

Post by yasaburou »

Hi all, I am on a new Lenovo Legion laptop (2024 Y9000X, identical hardware to 7i) with a new install of Zorin OS (Ubuntu LTS 22.04 base), and have installed GZDoom 4.12.2 from Flatpak.
Unfortunately when booting the app it returns 'Fatal error: Cannot find a game IWAD'. See this screenshot with the error message in the top right corner:

I have followed all three of those instructions, and have even put my IWADs in both ~/.var/app/org.zdoom.GZDoom/.config/gzdoom/ and my custom folder within the home directory, but no luck. I also tried both uppercase and lowercase filenames. I have used these IWADs successfully before on a different computer so I know the files are not the issue either.

Any help would be appreciated.
