True Negative InverseMap

A simple one:
I'd personally like an option (EDIT: preferably via an engine variable, but also available to modders via DEC/ZSC) to have the engine render the InverseMap as a true, color photo negative map (at least in hardware and truecolor software rendering modes) instead of a black-and-white one. It shouldn't be too hard to implement. Other sourceports do this, why can't GZ?
