Alternatives to Adobe Reader?

This was actually supposed to be a PM for @dpJudas coming from a past comment of his:
viewtopic.php?p=1243987#p1243987
but he's set his user settings to block any unwelcomed communication, so tried here instead; hoping he himself can eventually show up as well...

The actual question is, if he no longer uses Adobe, does this include Adobe Reader as well?
What does he use for PDFs instead of Adobe Reader?

I can't speak for dpJudas, but I think Evince is a decent alternative to Adobe Reader.

Foxit reader is also preatty useful.

My favourite PDF viewer has been this one during years:

SUMATRA PDF READER

And I wouldn't change it for anything... 8-)

My PDF needs are very limited. I'm just using Firefox when viewing PDFs. Web browsers aren't the best at it, but its good enough for me and I don't use PDFs enough to bother install a dedicated viewer.

Not sure why you wanted exactly my solution for that problem though. I don't have any particular insights here. :)

Same here. I only need a specialized tool when I get some forms to fill out as PDF, but that's extremely rare. For normal viewing of run-of-the-mill PDFs (i.e. 99% of what's around) the browser is more than adequate.

If you like Vim-style keybindings, Zathura is a good option I had found. Otherwise, I use Evince.

I would say SumatraPDF (which is very lightweight and supports additional formats like cbr, cbz, and epub, with the only caveat being the lack of darkmode) but since whatever year any browser could read PDF... even Edge since 2023 has Adobe Reader in it.

Yes but it didn't affect the actual document that is read, just the window border and background
