Happy new year!

Welcome to my 15th mod, and 23rd contribution to the forums overall.

Stray Jackals is a multi-class mod where past, present and future meet,
and each class has different playstyles that change the way you approach your maps.

Learn more about it in the following sections, and download the mod to have some fun!

Also, it wouldn't be a Cosmobyte
tm mod, if it didn't had compatibility with Hexen, Heretic and Chex Quest!
Try it with all kinds of maps and monster mods out there!

Upon opening the game with this mod loaded, I'm just met with a black screen.

That's weird. What sourceport are you using?

Worked for me using LZDoom and GZDoom.

Same issue for me, tested with both GZDoom 4.10 and 4.11.3.

Really weird. I received the same feedback from another player and he said that spamming enter would solve the issue. But i still get no issues other than difficulty level resolution mishaps in another computer.

I believe I may have a slight solution...using the Vulkan rendering option, instead of OpenGL. I have had the same issue, but as soon as I swapped to Vulkan, everything was normal.

Oh well, at least someone in this forum was able to experience the game 🤣

I'm being honest, i haven't done anything different from my usual process of creating titlemaps and menus for the mod, so i wasn't expecting players having problems.

Maybe i would need to remove the PSX intro and release the game in a more bare state.

It's working for me using LZDoom, so I don't know whats causing everyone else's problems. Desperado feels best to play for me, but Barbarian is fun once you get into the proper rhythm of combat. Technomancer is eh, don't like it but it doesn't feel bad to play as. All in all, good mod, will recommend to friends.

Worked for me too. Funny that I learned this right as I'm wanting to test another game with Vulkan to see if it runs any better with that, too.

I'm getting ready to give this mod a proper test right now, but just wanted to say first that it loads perfectly fine for me. I'm not using the Vulkan renderer, and I tried running it with a sh#t load of addons too and it still works fine. No clue why others are having issues. As I said, I'm going to fully test it now, but just from loading it and running through Entryway real fast, one thing I immediately noticed is that the sound FX are extremely loud (pickups, menu scroll & interaction, etc.).

Gonna give this a whirl soon, but I wanted to pop on here real quick to say that this runs fine for me in all three video modes, OpenGL, OpenGL ES, and Vulkan. Running with GZDoom 4.11.0.

Same here, haven't run into any issues on the latest GZDoom. Haven't tested the other ZDoom-related ports, but it's running fine.

Well, maybe all it needs is a fresh GZ/LZDoom install, like Marty has communicated me. It happens sometimes.

in any case, our first video is up, thanks to Lil Johnny Red!
