Sound mini-mod replacing ear piercing effects w/ better ones

Post by bLUEbYTE »

Hi,
Here's a small mod I made replacing some of the sound effects in game with subjectively better ones: https://www.mediafire.com/file/1aw06iuu ... s.pk3/file

In general, it makes the sounds for below listed things much less aggressive and ear piercing.
- plasma gun firing sound
- chaingun, also now it has four different randomly bullet sounds adding variety and interest
- chainsaw
- player pain and death sounds (male only)
- menu navigation
- gib splat effect now has four different randomly picked sounds
- game quit random sound effect is removed

Hope you enjoy it and it makes your game experience partially less annoying like it did for me.

Player sounds needn't have been replaced imo. Plus, chainsaw switching sound is missing. But in general, good idea and I enjoying this.

I deliberately replaced the chainsaw switching sound with silence as I couldn't find a good replacement and the original was one of the worst sounds I've heard in my life :|

If you have SLADE installed, just open the wad and remove the player-related entries from SNDINFO, that would restore the originals.
