[WIP Wad] anomalous properties

Lazy cross-post from Doomworld:
It's a map that was originally intended for a community project; however I should split it off. The initial start areas will remain the same, however, in part due to one other person's attempted overhaul of the original.

Requires GZDoom

Likely might try to submit it if the project leader is okay with it when it's done, but for now I need to have more broad feedback and make it more like a proper doom map.
Doom 2 map.

Resource wad available upon request; the community project isn't out yet and I haven't gotten to removing the assets for it..

ok I gave this a shot and seriously could not play for much longer than 5 minutes. There is such a thing as too much detail. I found the void arena with the pain elementals unplayable due to the terrain, the constant obstacles and arbitrary height variances made it unbearably difficult to fight any enemies. There's the fact that you can simply walk on the void parts without death, but there are other void areas which are instant death with no indication, such as right after the yellow key area. Your texture usage is really, really strange - some odd choices make it seem like you've just closed your eyes and picked a random texture and splattered them across your walls.

Now, I don't want to be unfair and just slate your map for some questionable decisions. Some parts do actually look quite interesting, such as the room with the yellow skull. I can also commend your choice of music, I find it rather fitting. I can see you have lots of cool ideas for a map, but you've kinda just smashed them together like a toddler & toy blocks with no cohesion. I feel as if you have these great ambitions but you're skipping some very basic steps and diving head first into some ultra-huge mega map.

Also, learn to use the grid, seriously. (& for some reason this map has some really bad performance issues...?)

unplayable due to the terrain, the constant obstacles and arbitrary height variances made it unbearably difficult to fight any enemies. There's the fact that you can simply walk on the void parts without death, but there are other void areas which are instant death with no indication i will look into solutions, such as right after the yellow key area. Your texture usage is really, really strange - some odd choices make it seem like you've just closed your eyes and picked a random texture and splattered them across your walls sorry sir, doing my best..

Now, I don't want to be unfair and just slate your map for some questionable decisions. Some parts do actually look quite interesting, such as the room with the yellow skull. I can also commend your choice of music, I find it rather fitting. I can see you have lots of cool ideas for a map, but you've kinda just smashed them together like a toddler & toy blocks with no cohesion. probably one of my weak points I feel as if you have these great ambitions but you're skipping some very basic steps and diving head first into some ultra-huge mega map.

Also, learn to use the grid, seriously. working on fixing (& for some reason this map has some really bad performance issues...?)appears to be a floor reflection related thing.
