Can't seem to change soundfonts in GZDoom on Linux

I'm using Linux Mint and have the latest GZDoom installed, but I can't change soundfonts. According to Google, all I need to do is put the sf2 file I want to use in the soundfont folder, and I've done that. I don't get the option to change it in GZDoom, though. The soundfont doesn't appear in the menu to change it, the only option is the GZDoom.sf2. The GZDoom folder itself is located in opt.

Try to put the soundfont into `~/.config/gzdoom/soundfonts/`

That worked, thank you!

A minor question: is there a known issue where the mouse doesn't highlight option text when hovered over? It did that on Windows, but it doesn't do so for me on Linux.

You can set mouse input to two modes: regular and touchscreen-like. It seems you got the latter active on your Linux system.
