Doom X Ideas

Hey everyone. As some of you know I'm making Doom X or I was. I wanted to recreate it but since Pierre is still working on it according to him, I wanted to make a Doom X game instead with the assets I recreated... It's called Doom X Resurrection.
Thing is, I need some help. I've been asked by quite a few people know if it's going to be Zdoom style as it was originally envisioned.
Now I'm happy to do that, however I wondered what I should include. Shall I keep the stock doom 2 textures? Add some more? What about fog and dynamic lights? Not strictly Zdoom but still....
I want it to be three episodes of 9 levels like OG Doom as well.
Whilst I get that Doom X was originally going to be zdoom based because when it was released Pierre was already working on colored maps and GZDOOM. So am I really being faithful by being too strict? What do you think peeps?
