Wouldn't it be cool if the heretic's tome of power were to be toggled on and off as a cheat? Instead of powerup for a limited time, you can type powerup to turn it on forever and type powerup to turn it off? Or powerup can be the limited powerup thing while some other word can be the toggle thing? Heretic II has the twoweeks cheat and it is toggled powerup while the powerup cheat here is only limited. I am saying if it would be better if the powerup cheat were to be toggled so I can use the phoenix rod flamethower for the whole game and for those who want to use that weapon without typing shazam or powerup from the console every time the tome runs out.

As a cheat, this would be pointless. However, this could actually have alot of use as a player property, to be toggled on and off in maps. That way, you can have a scripted pickup that powers up the player like that. I'm planning on doing something like that for the ending of D2C... although I could just use a berserk pack replacement for the effect I'm trying to achieve.

NOOO my brother's friend is a noob at heretic and he does not want to use the non powerup versions as it would be the same as doom right? He wants to use the powerup versions and I already beat the game without cheats. When the tome of power runs out, I don't want to type the cheat for him every time it runs out. I want to do something like always use the tomed phoenix rod for the whole game and have fun like that. I am not trying to finish the whole game again. What's wrong with this toggle thing anyways? You can turn it on by typing the cheat once and off by typing the same cheat in the console, not typing it many times during the game.
I've seen some people like my cousins who already finished doom II but want to try the game out differently, such as using only rocket launcher and have god mode on. That way, they can show the audience behind them the fun in the game by blowing zombies up.
I want to do the same thing as them by using things like hellstaff's rain thing or the ripper mode in the dragon claw. I don't want to type the cheat over and over again just to get those weapons.

For one, it's "ArtiTomeOfPower" and you could just type "Give ArtiTomeOfPower 999"Talonos wrote:1: Enter the console.
2: Type give artitome.
3: Press enter.
4: Without leaving the console, press the up arrow.
5: Repeat steps three and four a ton of times.
6: Leave the console.
7: You now have many tomes of power. Activate ad nausium(sp?)

1. Why fake this stuff with scripted pickups when you can do it directly? It is absolutely no problem to define a powerup that can do this right now without any scripting. Just use a PowerupGiver that gives a WeaponLevel2 power and defines its own duration.
2. The player property already exists.

That's not worth adding it. Cheats are there to make development of maps easier, not to give bad players some means not to play for real.

If I had known that it already existed, I wouldn't have asked.
