vavroom dynamic light shadows

Post by Steve5563 »

just testing out my old doom 2 project remap maps on a source port called k8vavoom which is a fork to the original source port called vavoom.
this fork can be found here:https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/1 ... -04-build/
i am curious if the k8vavoom / vavoom source port dynamic light shadows can be added to gzdoom?
its a really nice looking effect.
could the original developer of vavoom be any help with implementing the effect for gzdoom?
cheers

Yes, it is, and I have no plans adding that to GZDoom. It'd probably require a fundamental rewrite of the renderer to pull it off and far more time and dedication I'd ever be willing to invest.

Does anybody know what map that screenshot is from?

Indeed. It really packs a visual feature set distinctively different enough to seperate it from GZ in more ways than one. Its also a fundamentally different rendering engine, ofcourse, like the original Vavoom.

Still, visually, very very clean looking.
