[Feb 27th Master] [Duke] Different godmode behavior

Post by sinisterseed »

There seems to be a minor difference between Raze and EDuke32 (Feb 12th build) and Rednukem 1.0.

More precisely, blood seems to come out from Duke after turning off godmode in Raze, sometimes also accompanied by a brief pain sound and red screen flash. It otherwise appears to work correctly, except for these quirks.

Not a bug, this happens when you get damaged by anything in godmode and then turning it off. This is the same behavior as in DOS Duke3D.

Due to how the game was coded, the effect of the last damage source is applied to the player once godmode is disabled.
If you were hit by a projectile or explosion, you get a red screen, if you were hit by a freeze blast, you get a blue screen, and if you were hit by a shrinker projectile, you get shrunk.

Nice bit of trivia.

But that being said, what I experienced back then was these effects when no damage was received. As in, starting a map, enabling godmode, and then disabling it, as if damage wasn't taken into account.
