Due to the way we consistently have to tell people to be considerate to others' bandwidth and/or smaller screens, we are now requiring that all users read the image posting rules in order to gain access to the [img] tag. There is a button in that post that will automatically submit an application to gain access to the tag.
The [imgur] tag is still accessible by everyone.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but one complaint is how we do not uniformly enforce this rule.
Note that as of now, posting images that are too large can more likely result in a warning or other moderator action - because it is assumed that you have thoroughly read the rules regarding image posting in order to gain access to the tag. Be responsible - be considerate - and remember that access to any internet forum, including this one - is a privilege that is granted to you free of charge, not a right.
