doom a rainy day in the trenches

Post by Rustygold »

So this is my first time posting something on Zdoom weather it's important or not that's up to you guy's, But i digress so i've had my hand in makeing doom maps and ive gotten better in the past two years i've been mapping and even got into modding! I just now decided i might be good enough to post my 1 bigish map it's supposed to have two bigish levels but i haven't gotten to the second map i've still got to fix alot of stuff! the map it's self is my best so far but it's still got some major glitches and gun's to be added. heres my wad's set-up
year- 1914-1919 WWI the map will have you playing as a russian solder who was investigating a german research lab in northern france Verdun to be specific, youre main health count has be decreased to 85% and speed has be 50% slowed down because you're playing as a regular dude not doomguy. so the map is close to being done just needs to be tampered with and it only runs on gzdoom for some reason. and if anyone out-here has any WWI gun sprites they could send me that would be LOVELY! oh one more thing to add to this book of a paragraph
the reason there are robots and armored infantry it's because the universe is set in deasel punk! here's the storyline http://www.mediafire.com/view/tsatnk3ji ... ryline.txt and here's the wad itself http://www.mediafire.com/download/riakm ... pha(2).wad

While it doesn't look bad, I think you should use other texture resources for your map, since Doom/Doom 2 isn't really great for WWI environments.

Gothic Texture Pack, Outlaws Texture Pack, Redneck Rampage Textures and Blood 1 Textures are highly recommanded for world war environments, but i'm not pushing around. this is your own choice to decide what kind of texture pack is right.

As for your message you sent, I'd go with what Captain J suggested, but there are some World War 2 hi-res textures in one of the resource threads. I know you're looking for specifically WWI textures, but they'd fit in just as good.

I walked up a flight of stairs and was shot dead by a railgun.

World War I, you say?

lol did i tell you about the deasel punk/future theme? And i know what youre talking about i guess i didn't think the railgunner would be that over powered. don't worry i moved that little annoyance from that side of the map!

It gets worse. In the last map, (which I had to noclip through be cause the teleporter didn't work) you had to fight a bunch of UAC converted pig tanks from Duke Nukem. Of course, I never studied World War I, but I'm fairly certain the German forces didn't have Plasma Spitting, men sized tanks.
