Operation Hydra - Released!

Crosspost from Doomworld.

Operation Hydra is a ZDoom wad I have been working on for about 6 months: it's been difficult, but I think it's finally paid off. Bear in mind that Hydra is heavily inspired by Ultimate Simplicity and some of Torm's work, so hopefully you dig that sort of style. :P If this wad proves successful enough I might document the adventures of the other two marines, so stay tuned. PM me about any queries you might have about the wad.

Download here.

Enjoy!

One thing I've noticed so far when playing this map is that mods that tweak the actors, such as various gore mods, or the high-quality sound pack I so often like to use, break the repeater zombie which is, as far as I know, just a reskinned SS Nazi. I can fix the problem myself, I think, and I'd be willing to upload a patch here if you'd allow it.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm not about to finagle with [REDACTED]. Oh well.

Yeah, this isn't really compatible with mods. :P Personally I don't use mods, but you can upload it if you want.

So i started playing the first map, and it went well until i picked up the supershotgun and took a rocket to the face from a cybruiser. Second time playing it, it went well again until at the very end i opened the yellow door and instantly took another rocket to the face from a cybruiser. (Both rockets killed me, both times. Maybe make the cybruisers a little less super fast.)

Overall i like how this mod looks, it reminds me of simplicity for some reason. I really like the mapping! That yellow key trap in the first map got me.

Updated the OP with a new download link: obviously the cat's out of the bag and now everyone knows this is for vanilla. Doomkid92 noticed that Hydra doesn't quite work in version 1.666, so I renamed all the sprites in DeHackEd: I forgot that you had to do that. //_-

Very nice: a good looking fun map set. I like. :D

Of course, if it had actually been for ZDoom, then some of the things in it could have been done a bit more smoothly. :P
